Vox Cooltron Brit Boost Overdrive Pedal
Product Info
The VOX Cooltron Brit Boost Pedal is like having valve tone in a stomp box. How did VOX design a 12AU7 preamp valve to run for upto 16 hours on 4 AA batteries in a guitar effects pedal?
Nomally valves require voltages too high to be powered by batteries. VOX has redesigned the circuit, splitting the singal path in two. First is a servo circuit wich fools the valve into thinking it is operating at a much higher voltage. Second, a patented low voltage power supply which reduces the amount of heat in the valve required to get the current flowing. A bit technical, but the result is a valve in a effects pedal, with that unique valve sound.
The VOX Cooltron Brit Boost boosts treble and upper mid frequencies with the Treble Boost setting, adds low mids and and bottom end via the Full Range Boost, and pushes a slightly overdriven amp into heavy overdrive. The Gain knob varies overall gain from mellow and warm to grinding and ripping. An overal Tone knob ajusts to tonality of the pedal, and a true bypass switch gives your signal a hardwired route avoiding all the above.
