Another feature worth mentioning is the huge storage capacity for scheduled recording. A blank DVD provides up to 4.7GB in storage capacity, seven times more than a CD, and provides up to six hours of recording time.

Videoplus is the most popular instant recording system on the planet. This system has made video recording an easy, one-step process. It allows you to record TV programs with the PlusCode number for the show you want to record. You just look up the PlusCode number in your TV listings and enter it with your remote control into your DVD-Recorder, and the date, start time, stop time and channel settings are made automatically.

Although not mentioned in the user guide, the 5006 can be made multi-region by pressing a few keys on the remote control. To do this, simply follow these instructions:

1. Make sure DVD player is switched on with no disc in the tray
2. Press setup on the remote control
3. Highlight 'exit' and then press 2,9,6,0 on the remote control
4. Select desired region
5. Then exit

*Please note that your TV must be capable of displaying an NTSC signal to view Region 1 discs in colour.
