The IgniterX family of video capture and editing cards consists of two lines: IgniterX Lite and IgniterX. IgniterX Lite is targeted towards DAW users and is one of the few solutions certified for use with DigiDesign's ProTools. IgniterX Lite features hardware based variable rate MJPEG-A compression that integrates easily into your ProTools studio. IgniterX Lite is a single card solution which (unlike IgniterX) cannot be upgraded via daughtercards.

The IgniterX family of video capture and editing cards is a versatile product range beginning with a base card that allows the user to add one of two upgrades to enhance its functionality. The IgniterX base card offers both hardware based variable MJPEG-A compression and decompression in addition to Uncompressed video. This allows you to save a ton of hard drive space when editing offline and later achieve the utmost quality by doing your online using Uncompressed video. The Pro Upgrade includes an Analog daughtercard and a 2U rack mountable Analog Breakout Box. The SDI Upgrade includes a Digital daughtercard and a Digital 1U rack mountable Breakout Box. You can add either the Pro Upgrade or the SDI Upgrade or both to your IgniterX base card. By adding either the Pro Upgrade or the SDI Upgrade you automatically get the 24fps Film support that was used by Walter Murch in the creation of Cold Mountain.

With this versatile IgniterX product line you can purchase exactly what you need without the need for any external converters. If you are integrating IgniterX into a predominantly analog studio IgniterX Pro will be an ideal solution. If your studio is predominantly digital IgniterX SDI might be a better starting point. If your studio consists of both analog and digital equipment IgniterX Studio will be a perfect fit.
